I think we will see a big game from Baer-Money-Hudler, the chem they are developing is a sight for sore eyes. After years of having zero line consistency, I sure hope this one sticks for the long term.

Why? Is he buying Bozak dinner for robbing the Leafs with that fat contract?

Those are expected lines...get the feeling he will sit tonight to rest his injury as he wasnt exactly "flying" last night.

Will see how things go with Lupul. I wouldn't be surprised if he sat since he did play mostly for his grandmother in the stands . But if he can handle the pain I think he'll still want to play.

I am looking forward to this one. Been a while since we saw some of the ex-Leafs on Calgary. Plus get to see some guys like Monahan and see how he's doing out there.

Of course still hoping for a win so we'll see how things go .

Hopefully the top guys aren't too tired, I don't think they had more than 2 shifts after 4-0... It was all the bottom 6.

Same for the defense really. I think Rielly was leading the team in ice time. Probably saving up as much as they could for this one.

Leafs should sign Freddy Sjostrom to a one-night contract.

I don't understand why Backlund is on the fourth line. I understand he still pk's but hes been playing well enough to deserve a shot with wingers. The way he protects the puck offensively isn't going to help when he's setting up mcgrattan.

Since we'll see allot of the Leafs trolls, err fans here today... whats the sentiment regarding Dion's pending contract discussion? Whats he worth to you guys if you're Nonis?

Speaking of trolling...

I know how this works, we give an opinion about what he's worth, you call us ridiculous and then a bunch of get tossed around. Sorry, not interested.

During last year's shortened season and this season, he's been f'n fantastic. I prefer to see how he'll perform until the Olympics, and if we give him an extension, do it after the Olympic break. But he's worth every penny of his 6.5M contract right now. The Dion we're seeing is the Dion we hoped we were getting off you guys.

Nah, seriously... I think you guys are in a tough spot. to let him go (which won't happen) or to give him what he wants (but does he deserve?). I'd say 3 years at 7 per. He's a good D, just not elite but if you guys don't someone (Philly/NYR) will... tough spot... Can you see Nonis trading him?

As for the , we'll do that anyhow, never mind Dion...

he's not the highlight machine he was in calgary (20 goals and huge hits) but he's also not costing his team as much at the same time. He's getting calmer and more defensive which is what we need.

He's also keeping the top players he's matching up against off the score sheet and is a big reason for our 4th ranked PK unit. And he's doing all this while quietly still being on a 45-50 point pace.

Here's the thing with Dion. He's not the ideal #1 dman, but he is a better #1 than alot of Dmen out there. Let's look at Seabrook, sound defensively, no offense. Or letang, great offensively, bad defensively. Dion does a bit of everything (one of the top 2 or 3 active scoring dmen since he came into the league, and always tops amongst hits). To say he's not elite is a little biased i say, kind of like when people USED to laugh and say '2 1sts and a second for kessel ". There are definately dmen i'd take over Dion, but to say he's not elite doesn't fly. His mistakes are magnified because he's in Toronto and he plays so damn much.

He's top 20 at worse right now in the NHL, probably the best all round defender we've had since Salming.

Well that's the thing, offering him 3 years is basically as good as not making an offer at all. If they want to keep him they'll have to pony up with term and dollars, that's a fact. Honestly, I don't know what Nonis is going to do. My gut says he bites the bullet and resigns him but who really knows...
